Having been in this line of work for years, I was able to accompany many dreamlike couples to where everything has been cared for down to the most minute detail, from the flowing timeline to the lighting, flowers and music that perfectly blended together. But there were also wedding projects that ended with the crew not remembering clearly what the setup was, how many flower stems were used or how many string lights were hung. What remained was a feeling... clear, intact and indescribable.
Lộc and Kaylie's wedding is exactly just that, where feelings are etched more deeply than what is seen and heard.
Both came from Vietnamese families but spent their childhoods far away from home, so their Vietnamese is sometimes awkward, especially for Lộc... And yet, both insisted on having their wedding in Vietnam, hoping that the whole family would no longer have to share the moment through a small screen, but together under one roof for the first time in years. For them to be part of the joy of a couple that has grown up overseas, through the laughters surrounded by Hồ Tràm's sun and wind and the warmth of a shared home.
I still vividly remember the moment Lộc held the microphone, his hand slightly trembling, to say his vow in a language he had diligently practiced for days. At first, Kaylie even slightly doubted whether Lộc could fully express in Vietnamese. And yet, before knowing it, her eyes gradually welled up with emotions. Not because the words flowed smoothly or were completely precise, but because sincerity has its own way to reach the other person's heart.
Although the unanticipated weather had forced the crew to relocate the previously prepared venue to arrange the evening party on time so that, in a flash, everything had changed, there was not a single complaint. From the technical team, decorators to the wedded pair themselves, all voluntarily contributed, working together with the sole spirit of making this happy day whole.
Only 60 guests attended, yet the party carried the energy of a thousand, because every glance, every hug, every moment was given away in full. It was not the kind of wedding that makes people marvel for its extravagance, but one that I will forever remember for how everything there was illuminated by a sincere and complete love.
