Planning a Wedding in 6 Months: Is It Possible?
Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting and stressful tasks in life. Some couples may choose to plan their wedding one to two years in advance, either because they need time to prepare carefully or because they don't want to rush into marriage. However, organizing a wedding in just 6 months is absolutely feasible! DWP will help you turn what might seem impossible into reality.
First Month
Budget – Sit down with your partner and discuss your wedding budget. Choose an amount that both of you are comfortable with. Make a list of essential expenses to help you manage and track your spending throughout the planning process.
Guest List – Creating a guest list can be challenging, as it involves a lot of decisions. Start by listing your closest family and friends, and then gradually expand your list.
Choosing the Wedding Date – In Vietnam, weddings are often scheduled on "lucky" days of the month and usually fall on weekends so that all guests can attend. Make sure to choose a date that is convenient for both families.
Choosing a Venue – Selecting a restaurant or venue that is convenient for both families is crucial. The location will impact whether your guests can attend, so make sure it is easily accessible. Additionally, ensure the venue has adequate amenities and offers high-quality wedding services. Don’t forget to negotiate with the venue about the services they offer and the costs, as this could help you save significantly.
Second Month
Booking Wedding Services – Don’t forget to plan and book essential services such as photographers, wedding decorations, flower arrangements, wedding car, and live music (if desired). Make a list of all the services you need and book them together to avoid forgetting anything important.
Wedding Attire – This is the time to select the perfect wedding dress for the bride, suit for the groom, and dresses for the bridesmaids. Be sure to ask for advice from someone you trust to ensure that you make the right choice.
Accessories – Shop for accessories like shoes, jewelry, and items to decorate your honeymoon suite. Make sure you have all the essentials, especially as the wedding day approaches.
Informing Friends and Family – Although this is not yet an official invitation, it’s a good idea to inform friends and family about your wedding date well in advance. This gives them time to plan and attend, and they can let you know if they are unable to make it.
Transportation – Don’t forget to arrange transportation for your family and wedding party. If your wedding falls during the busy wedding season, book transport as early as possible to avoid last-minute issues.
Third Month
Wedding Rings – Wedding rings are essential symbols of the ceremony, so don’t forget to select and purchase them in advance.
Planning the Reception Entertainment – If you want to surprise your guests or your partner, plan and rehearse any special performances or entertainment for the wedding reception to ensure everything goes smoothly and impresses your guests.
Choosing the Menu – Visit the restaurant where you’ve made your reservation with a family member to finalize the menu. Some restaurants may offer a tasting menu, so you can try the selected dishes beforehand and make changes if needed.
Fourth Month
Planning the Honeymoon – The honeymoon is the holiday you’re most excited about after the wedding. Take some time to plan, book your flights, and reserve a hotel at your chosen destination to enjoy a relaxing and romantic getaway with your partner.
Creating the Playlist – Choose the songs you’d like the band to play during the wedding reception. If there is no band, compile a playlist and provide it to the restaurant, so they can play the songs at the right moments.
Choosing a Makeup Artist and Hairstylist – Finding the right makeup artist and hairstylist who understands your preferences can be challenging, especially if you’re a perfectionist. Make sure to book your stylist early and do a trial session to ensure you’re happy with their work.
Fifth Month
Creating the Seating Plan – To avoid awkward situations, create a seating plan to ensure that guests are seated where they belong. This way, you can avoid seating your friends with your parents' acquaintances or business partners.
Thank-You Gifts – Prepare thoughtful, small gifts for your guests, which can be handmade or carefully chosen. Place these little tokens of appreciation at each guest's seat to show gratitude for their presence and support.
Marriage Registration – This is a crucial step and should not be overlooked. Make sure to complete all the necessary paperwork for registering your marriage according to the legal requirements.
Sixth Month
Confirming All Bookings – Before the wedding, double-check all the services you've booked to ensure everything is ready. Don’t forget to go over your checklist to make sure nothing is missed.
Beauty Treatments – Take time to relax and pamper yourself at the spa to feel refreshed and look your best for the big day.
Sending Official Invitations – Send out the official invitations to your guests at least one week or 10 days before the wedding, so they have enough time to adjust their schedules.
